UI Installation (MISC):
Installing Java SDK
- Download JAVA SDK (.bin file; consult your advisor as to what type to download): http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index_jdk5.jsp
- Using the terminal, go to the folder where you saved the .bin file
- Use the following command to allow yourself to execute the file: chmod -x (name of saved .bin file)
- Install using the following command: ./(name of saved .bin file)
- Read through the EULA and accept by typing: yes
- Wait as Linux installs the SDK
- (only if it doesn't exist) When finished, make a directory/folder called "java" under /usr: cd /usr; then mkdir ./java
- Move the installation directory of the SDK into the java directory: mv (name of SDK installation directory) /usr/java
